God WINS what He's IN

Image
“I think I made a mistake.” My husband confessed while scrolling thru his phone. “What do you mean…mistake?” I thought he had deleted something, or wasn’t able to open an app. It’s not like it was the first time he has had trouble with his phone or technology for that matter. “I shouldn’t have put in my resignation at work. We shouldn’t have put the house up for sale. It’s been too long, and we don’t have anyone interested in the house. Maybe we aren’t supposed to move to Tennessee.” Wait…what? Half of the house is packed up, we are under contract for a house in Tennessee, plans are being made and now you have cold feet? The issue is, our move to Tennessee wasn’t our plan, it was God’s plan, and we knew it. We received several confirmations that this was what the Lord wanted us to do, plus when it’s God’s will you just know. I don’t know how to explain how you know but deep down within your soul you know that you know. There is a peace and a newfound excitement when God orchest...

Yearning for Joy

Image
J oy is   different than happiness.  Joy is internal, joy is everlasting, joy is present through the good times and the bad times.  Joy doesn't come automatically, and it's not something we achieve through habits, performance, or application.  Joy is experienced only through a thriving relationship with Jesus Christ, that means we continue to advance in our personal relationship with Christ.  Joy in Christ provides us with the highest motivation and strength to contribute to society as we exemplify Christ in action, speech, and reaction; serving God and fulfilling His purpose for our lives as a witness of hope to those around us. The book of Philippians is a letter written by the apostle Paul. He begins by expressing his love and joy for the church at Philippi. This church was considered to be a sincere church, which is why they held a special place in Paul's heart. During my study today, I began to focus on this verse: "For God is my witness, how I yearn for yo...

My Desire vs. God's Will

Image
Have you ever struggled with knowing God's will through your desire? He just found out, and needless to say, he was perplexed. “Why didn’t she share this with me?” “Why am I just now finding out?” “Aren’t we supposed to be partners in life?” “Was she keeping a secret from me?” “I don’t like secrets!” He had questions, lots of questions but I believe the most prominent one was, “Why am I finding this out after reading your Facebook post?!” “Tell me all about it,” He asked me “I want to know all the details.” I wasn’t trying to keep a secret, not at all. My husband is my best friend, my partner, and a highly trusted friend. I want nothing more than to share all my life with him but with this issue, I was searching for God’s will and not my own desire, it’s as simple as that. Don’t get me wrong with what I am about to say, women don’t have that much power with influencing our men… wellll maybe we do…but I wanted to make sure that I wasn’t influencing my husband’s desires...

Simply Sincere

Image
'For our boast is this, the testimony of our conscience, that we behaved in the world with simplicity and godly sincerity, not by earthly wisdom but by the grace of God, and supremely so toward you.' 2 Corinthians 1:12 ESV   My husband and I found ourselves in the emergency room several days into our long-awaited summer vacation. It had been five days since my husband noticed a sore on his leg, he cleaned it out and did his best to take care of the sore, but it quickly evolved into a severe bacterial infection. Had we not sought medical attention, the infection could’ve caused permanent damage to his joints or even worse traveled through his circulatory system causing life threatening sepsis. Four days before leaving for a vacation we planned a year in advance, my husband, Joe, was installing a small sprinkler system. The weeds were quite tall in some places, but he still managed to get it installed prior to our departure. The next day at work he noticed his leg was s...

Would you just look at it?

What's on the bottom of your shoe? The other day a friend of mine posted a picture of herself on social media. In the comments she talked about overcoming an obstacle in her life. This post was about a situation, a struggle, determination, trials and then victory. The difference with this post was after she claimed her victory, she pointed out a spot on the bottom of her shoe. “I don’t know what’s on my shoe, we have chickens and cows.” She stated. I must be honest, as I read her post, I was cheering her on, proud of her accomplishment and thought about my desire to achieve the same victory she received through hard work and dedication. All that went away when I read her last comment. I admit it, I magnified the picture to see the spot on her shoe, and at that moment it was the only thing I could focus on. It was a spot I never would have noticed or quite frankly would’ve cared about. A spot that I frequently have on the bottom of my own shoe because of our chickens, goats and no...
