God WINS what He's IN

“I think I made a mistake.” My husband confessed while scrolling thru his phone.

“What do you mean…mistake?” I thought he had deleted something, or wasn’t able to open an app. It’s not like it was the first time he has had trouble with his phone or technology for that matter.

“I shouldn’t have put in my resignation at work. We shouldn’t have put the house up for sale. It’s been too long, and we don’t have anyone interested in the house. Maybe we aren’t supposed to move to Tennessee.”

Wait…what? Half of the house is packed up, we are under contract for a house in Tennessee, plans are being made and now you have cold feet?

The issue is, our move to Tennessee wasn’t our plan, it was God’s plan, and we knew it. We received several confirmations that this was what the Lord wanted us to do, plus when it’s God’s will you just know. I don’t know how to explain how you know but deep down within your soul you know that you know. There is a peace and a newfound excitement when God orchestrates your path. Of course we are human so every once in a while apprehension creeps in and we begin to doubt.

Everything was happening so fast, in less than a month of him accepting this job and us making the decision to move across the country we had traveled to Tennessee, did some house hunting, put an offer on a home, put our home on the market, informed our children, and after 21 years of service, Joe resigned. Everyone that knows us was shocked. Never in a million years did they think we would leave Colorado; well, they weren’t the only ones that thought that.

It had been almost 2 months since our house went on the market, and everything depended on our home selling. We had a few interests but nothing concrete, this is where we were, and tensions were high. Doubt was beginning to settle in, had we allowed it to take root, we would’ve missed what God had planned for us next.

As I continue with my study in Philippians, I was reminded of not only what we were going through but also my response to my husband. This verse backs what I had told him:

“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” Philippians 1:6 ESV

Now I know that isn’t exactly what Paul was saying when he wrote this letter to the church at Philippi, but that’s what’s so special about God’s word. It IS alive and it IS God speaking to us when we need to hear from Him.

My response to my husband was

“God doesn’t leave loose ends. This is His plan, He got the wheels turning and He won’t leave it undone but it will be in His timing, we just need to have faith that He has got this.”

We spend so much time questioning God. Have you ever stopped to think about what you missed out on because you questioned, because you doubted, or because you were fearful? You’re not alone. I have spent way too much time in the season of doubt, but this time, I was sure!

Literally minutes after this conversation between my husband and I, we got a phone call. We had not one but two showings in one day, and yes one of them ended up purchasing our home. God already planned who He wanted to sell the house to, we just needed to be patient and trust Him.

If you are struggling with walking out God’s will in your life, keep these thoughts in mind:

·        God equips the called, not called the equipped. If He has called you towards a ministry or directed your path, He will provide you with what you need. Yes, the enemy will try to stop God’s plan, but have you read the last chapter in the Bible? Spoiler alert, Satan loses. Stand strong knowing you are on the winning side and stay the course God has placed you on.

·        God doesn’t leave loose ends. Sometimes this is hard to grasp when we’re in the midst of a situation.

When God is IN it, God WINS it.

It may not unfold like you thought it would and it may not happen when you think it should, but God’s got this!

Stay faithful and trust the Lord. Who are we to shut doors He has opened? Who are we to undo what He has ordained? His kingdom come, His will be done, on Earth AS IT IS IN HEAVEN.

Amen!
