Watching the Watchman - a Time to Discern Prophetic Words

Image
Here we are, a few weeks into the year 2023. Based on events over the last couple of years, it feels like people are tiptoeing into the new year. We’re dipping our toes in the water to see if the temperature is favorable for swimming. Do we just wade in the water for a bit? Should we be adventurous and swim into the deep and see where the current takes us? Is it safe to climb up on the boat and journey to the middle of the ocean or will a storm happen upon us? The world was taken by surprise in 2020, a year most were looking forward to a clear vision and blessings upon measure. Yet, 2020 was a year of sickness, death, fear, isolation, and an uncertain future for the entire world. Since that time, the new year has been a time of apprehension. Will we be surprised again? Will this year be better than the last? Is it safe to let our guard down? Some Christians seek prophetic words to help them navigate new beginnings, to understand what God has in store for us or our country. Th...

God WINS what He's IN

“I think I made a mistake.” My husband confessed while scrolling thru his phone. “What do you mean…mistake?” I thought he had deleted something, or wasn’t able to open an app. It’s not like it was the first time he has had trouble with his phone or technology for that matter. “I shouldn’t have put in my resignation at work. We shouldn’t have put the house up for sale. It’s been too long, and we don’t have anyone interested in the house. Maybe we aren’t supposed to move to Tennessee.” Wait…what? Half of the house is packed up, we are under contract for a house in Tennessee, plans are being made and now you have cold feet? The issue is, our move to Tennessee wasn’t our plan, it was God’s plan, and we knew it. We received several confirmations that this was what the Lord wanted us to do, plus when it’s God’s will you just know. I don’t know how to explain how you know but deep down within your soul you know that you know. There is a peace and a newfound excitement when God orchest...

Yearning for Joy

Image
J oy is   different than happiness.  Joy is internal, joy is everlasting, joy is present through the good times and the bad times.  Joy doesn't come automatically, and it's not something we achieve through habits, performance, or application.  Joy is experienced only through a thriving relationship with Jesus Christ, that means we continue to advance in our personal relationship with Christ.  Joy in Christ provides us with the highest motivation and strength to contribute to society as we exemplify Christ in action, speech, and reaction; serving God and fulfilling His purpose for our lives as a witness of hope to those around us. The book of Philippians is a letter written by the apostle Paul. He begins by expressing his love and joy for the church at Philippi. This church was considered to be a sincere church, which is why they held a special place in Paul's heart. During my study today, I began to focus on this verse: "For God is my witness, how I yearn for yo...

Simply Sincere

'For our boast is this, the testimony of our conscience, that we behaved in the world with simplicity and godly sincerity, not by earthly wisdom but by the grace of God, and supremely so toward you.' 2 Corinthians 1:12 ESV   My husband and I found ourselves in the emergency room several days into our long-awaited summer vacation. It had been five days since my husband noticed a sore on his leg, he cleaned it out and did his best to take care of the sore, but it quickly evolved into a severe bacterial infection. Had we not sought medical attention, the infection could’ve caused permanent damage to his joints or even worse traveled through his circulatory system causing life threatening sepsis. Four days before leaving for a vacation we planned a year in advance, my husband, Joe, was installing a small sprinkler system. The weeds were quite tall in some places, but he still managed to get it installed prior to our departure. The next day at work he noticed his leg was s...
